Fiat 500 Service in Birmingham: Serious Suspension Faults Found During Routine Inspection

This Fiat 500 came into Car Vitals for a routine service, but a proper mechanical inspection revealed serious suspension wear that needed attention. This is exactly why a service should be more than simply changing oil and filters.

What We Found During the Service

During the inspection, the offside-front wishbone ball joint was found to be in extremely poor condition, with excessive movement and the joint effectively hanging off. On the nearside-front, the rear wishbone bush had separated.

Why These Faults Matter

Wishbones, ball joints and suspension bushes are critical to steering control, stability and tyre wear. Excessive play or a separated bush can affect how the car handles and can quickly become a serious safety issue if left.

Both Wishbones Replaced

With the faults confirmed, both front wishbones were replaced so the suspension could be returned to a safe and serviceable condition.

Why MOT Testing Experience Matters

Years of MOT testing experience make a real difference when carrying out routine servicing. Knowing where common wear occurs, what movement is acceptable and what signs point to a developing failure means faults can be picked up before they become breakdowns or dangerous defects.

At Car Vitals, a service is not treated as a box-ticking exercise. The vehicle is inspected properly so customers know what condition their car is actually in.
