A 2019 Fiat 500 in Northfield was losing coolant, so Car Vitals attended the vehicle to inspect the fault and provide a quote.

Diagnosis: Snapped Water Outlet

The coolant loss was traced to the water outlet, which had become brittle with age and snapped off. Plastic cooling-system fittings can deteriorate after years of repeated heat cycles, and when they fail the coolant loss can happen quickly.

Upgraded Alloy Outlet Fitted

Rather than replacing the failed component with the same style of plastic outlet, we fitted a modified replacement with an uprated alloy outlet to provide a more robust solution.

Mobile Diagnosis and Repair

The Fiat was inspected and quoted on the first visit. We then returned the following day to complete the repair at the customer's location in Northfield.

Cooling System Refilled and Bled Correctly

Once the modified outlet was fitted, the cooling system was refilled and bled correctly so the system could operate as it should before the vehicle was handed back.

Why Coolant Leaks Shouldn't Be Ignored

A small failed plastic fitting can cause a large coolant loss. If the vehicle continues to be driven, the resulting overheating can lead to far more expensive engine damage.
