This 2011 Volkswagen Polo Moda A/C came into Car Vitals with a very rattly timing chain. Timing chain noise is never something to ignore, so the engine was stripped down and the complete timing chain kit was replaced.

Complete Timing Chain Kit Replaced

Rather than replacing one worn component in isolation, the complete timing chain kit was renewed so the system could be repaired properly and the engine timing restored.

Health Check After Two Years Off the Road

After the timing chain repair, we carried out a wider health check because the Polo had been sitting for around two years. That inspection identified several additional faults that needed attention.

Cracking in the Tyre Tread

The tyre showed significant cracking in the tread area. Tyres can deteriorate with age and long periods of standing, even when there is still visible tread depth remaining.

Exhaust Blow Found

We also found an exhaust leak during the inspection. Catching an exhaust blow early helps prevent the fault getting worse and allows the customer to plan the repair rather than waiting for a larger failure.

Wishbone Bushes Separating

The front wishbone bushes were also starting to separate. Suspension bushes play an important role in wheel control and stability, so deterioration is worth identifying before it develops into excessive movement or poor handling.
